Aeroplan is Air Canada's free loyalty program, run by its subsidiary Aeroplan Inc. Members earn Aeroplan points on Air Canada and partner flights, credit cards and retail partners, and redeem them for flights, hotels, car rentals, vacation packages, merchandise and gift cards. Frequent flyers can earn elite status from Aeroplan 25K to Super Elite.
For travel from January 1, 2026, members earn 1 point per $1 spent on the base fare and carrier surcharges of eligible Air Canada flights. Elite members earn 2X to 6X, depending on status.
Air Canada flight rewards start at 6,000 points for an Economy one-way short-haul flight of up to 500 miles, and can cost more in high-demand periods. Flight rewards on partner airlines cost a fixed number of points, plus a partner booking fee.
Air Canada does not set one cash value. Work it out per booking: take the cash price of the same flight, subtract the taxes and fees you still pay on the reward, and divide by the points needed. A fixed point price on a partner flight is worth more when the cash fare for that route is high.
Aeroplan 25K needs 25,000 Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) in a calendar year, 35K needs 35,000, 50K needs 50,000, 75K needs 75,000 and Super Elite needs 125,000. Air Canada flights give 2 to 4 SQC per $1 depending on the fare, and Economy Basic fares give none.
Points stay valid as long as the account is active. If a member does not earn or redeem points for 18 consecutive months, the account becomes inactive and all points are forfeited.
The general terms let individuals enroll without a country restriction, and US residents have their own co-brand card, the Chase Air Canada Aeroplan Card.
