Member questions
Answers from the published program terms.
What is MGM Rewards?
MGM Rewards is MGM Resorts International's free loyalty program. Members earn MGM Rewards Points, SLOT DOLLARS and Tier Credits on hotel stays, dining, shows and casino play at MGM Rewards destinations, and use points for stays, food, entertainment and spa services. Tier Credits decide the tier: Sapphire, Pearl, Gold, Platinum or NOIR.
What are the MGM Rewards tiers?
Sapphire covers members with up to 19,999 Tier Credits, Pearl starts at 20,000, Gold at 75,000 and Platinum at 200,000. NOIR is by invitation only. Tier Credits are counted from January 1 to December 31 and set the tier for the following February to January.
How many points do you earn with MGM Rewards?
Eligible hotel folio charges and spending at participating restaurants and bars earn 1 MGM Rewards Point and 4 Tier Credits per $1. Casino play earns points, Tier Credits and SLOT DOLLARS based on the wager, game type and time played.
Do MGM Rewards points expire?
For Sapphire members, points and SLOT DOLLARS expire after six months of inactivity. For Pearl members and above they do not expire. Tier Credits reset at the end of each calendar year.
How old do you have to be to join MGM Rewards?
Members must be 21 or older with a valid government photo ID, which must be shown at an MGM Rewards station to activate the membership.
Can you turn MGM Rewards points into FREEPLAY?
Not directly. FREEPLAY comes from SLOT DOLLARS, a separate balance earned on slots and video poker and redeemed at participating MGM Rewards destinations. MGM Rewards Points are spent on hotel stays, dining, entertainment and spa services. Holiday Gift Shoppe Gift Points, a seasonal currency, can also be redeemed for FREEPLAY.
Does using MGM Rewards points lower your tier?
No. Tier Status depends only on Tier Credits earned from January 1 to December 31, so redeeming MGM Rewards Points for a stay or a meal does not reduce your tier.
Which partners work with MGM Rewards?
MGM lists Marriott Bonvoy, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Southwest Airlines as partners, plus member savings with Avis. BetMGM wagers earn BetMGM Rewards Points and Tier Credits, and onboard casino play on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity sailings earns points, Tier Credits and SLOT DOLLARS.
Do military members get MGM Rewards status?
Yes. Active duty military, National Guard and Reserve members, retired military, prior service members and spouses of eligible military personnel are upgraded to Pearl automatically.
