Price Chopper/Market 32 replaced its points-based AdvantEdge Rewards with 2% back on “almost everything” through November 7, as part of a campaign that lowers prices on more than 1,000 everyday items.

Receipts now show redeemed points as cash saved, so shoppers see their rewards in dollars. President Blaine Bringhurst said the goal of making it easier to save inspired “the shift from points to dollars” in the program. The campaign also brings new shelf tags and weekly ads that highlight savings across nearly every department.

Grocery Dive places the move in a market where price sensitivity is high and shoppers are switching to lower-priced retailers.

For grocers, this is a clear test of a simple idea: a reward shown in dollars on the receipt may be easier to value than a points balance. The time-limited offer also gives the chain a natural point to measure the change before deciding what comes next.
