From December 8, 2026, Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn status credits through everyday spending and carry unused credits into the following year, capped by tier.
The rollover caps are 100 status credits for Silver, 250 for Gold and 500 for Platinum and Platinum One. Members will be able to earn up to 140 status credits a year on the ground, across 10 categories such as credit cards, insurance, hotels and everyday shopping.
Keeping status gets harder at the same time. From late 2027 the credits needed to keep Silver, Gold and Platinum rise to match the credits needed to earn them: 300, 700 and 1,400. The Loyalty Bonus, Points Club and Green Tier are being removed.
For airline and travel programs, the package is a trade: more ways to earn status outside the plane, balanced by higher bars to keep it.
